Professional expertise and future prospects at this year’s winter meeting<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

There was both a review of experiences and a forward-looking perspective when the recently held Winter Meeting brought the industry together at Saksk\u00f8bing Sports Centre. With a packed programme and the participation of nearly 300 guests, including sugar beet growers, advisers, and company representatives, the day became a central meeting place for knowledge sharing and dialogue about the current challenges and opportunities in sugar beet cultivation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The programme covered a wide range and started with \u201cThe Year in Review\u201d, where experiences from the latest growing season and campaign were discussed. There was a focus on cultivation results, disease pressure, and practical experiences, which can form the basis for adjustments and strategic decisions moving forward. The presentations provided a nuanced picture of the season’s challenges and also demonstrated how knowledge from the field can be translated into concrete improvements. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year’s main topic was the new nitrogen regulation model, which will come into effect from 2027. Tavs Nyord, Head of Profession at Seges, was invited to give his perspective on what this means for sugar beet growers and the crop rotations that will need to be developed going forward. Tavs’ presentation was followed by sugar beet grower Michael Hansen, who shared his thoughts on how this might look on his farm. These were a couple of exciting and highly relevant presentations, which were well received by the audience and prompted a number of questions afterwards. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Winter Meeting concluded with an overall perspective on the transition from season to strategy, where the day’s professional input was put into context. Participants could take home both new knowledge and concrete considerations, and the meeting once again underlined its role as an important professional gathering for inspiration, networking, and shared direction for the coming season. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
